HOUSING
Personal assessment
Type of housing: Student Corridor
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Same sa before
Why? I would have preffered WG's (sharred appartments) but it is very uncommon here, if you do it, you would only share it with friends/people you have known before, the student corridors are the second best way of meeting people
Personal comments:
It is cheap, high standart (own bathroom, only kitchen is shared) fantastic internet connection, all other exchange students live here in fact only students live here This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

STUDENT LIFE
Personal social experience
Describe host city: Student life dominates the city
Activities: Takes place mostly within the university/student environment Travel: Takes place mostly outside the university/student environment Nightlife: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment Personal comments:
Platen's, Platå are the two most common not-university clubs, there are two student pubs/discos: Hergår'n and Nationernas Hus. But more important (and more fun) are the parties at University usually that means two or three parties on one weekend, thursday or friday Krawall and on saturday sittning and eftersläpp (more formal but I think more fun) This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

My academic experiences
Course recommendations:
If you want to get to know swedes do not only go to the english tought classes, you will meet all the other exchange students there, but no swedes at all (or nearly none). And you will learn swedish mch faster
My opinion of the university assessment
Personal comments:
You came here to study faster than at home? So why did you come here at all. Enjoy...don't take to many This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Language difficulties
Language of instruction: English
Local language was: Different than language of instruction.
Was learning English a key decision factor?
No, it wasn't. Was learning Swedish a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my Swedish How much did you improve your Swedish?
My level before: Did not speak it My level after: At ease in most situations Personal comments:
In the beginning I wasn't really sure if I want to learn swedish at all, but I realized that if I really want to get to know some swedes I would have to. don't get me wrong, they nearly all speak perfect english, but when you go out with them they might not want to speak english with their friends all the time. And I want to know what they say to them anyway ;) This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

EXPENSES
The accessibility of student needs
Main source of funding:
Family Other sources of funding:
Personal savings An ERASMUS grant Work opportunities:
I worked during my study abroad experience Personal spending habits:
I spent more for nightlive because it was more expensive, more for the telephone because I called people at home (which makes it more expensive, even if it is cheaper here than in Germany) and more on travel as I traveled more here in Sweden than I usually do. Travel, Nightlife, Overall, Telephone: was more expensive than at home. Food: was the same price as at home. Housing: was less expensive than at home.
Personal comments:
To get an "normal" account you need a personnumer (id number) which you can get if/when you fill out your application for residency or you go to the bank at the market place and get an account with a personnumer which is reserved for companies. I didn't do it just withdrawed big amounts from the atms This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

OVERALL
Important to choosing this university...
I wish I had known...
no In my opinion:
Everybody loved it, you will too!
During my experience abroad, I ...
Personal recommendation:
get a good study group, get to know swedes (it is possible if you try hard enough and it is worth the effort) Don't try to hard to get a master I met some people here that ended up doing NOTHING else,...what a waste of a year FINAL COMMENTS
Go to valborg in Uppsala, if you don't know anyone there or/and can't get a ticket for the night still go there it is amazing. Going up north is pretty cheap if you take either a stand-by plane ticket or the train (a bit more expensive, but you see much more). Har det bra Jan-Eric This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
