If you really want to acquire knowledge in Swedish, you should know that it is really possible even in just 5 months...it is up to you! The 30 hour course of introduction are very worthwhile. But for going on you should try to speak as much as possible even if you feel it annoying not to be able to express anything; it is the only way for your success. Grammar is easy, just focus on vocabulary.

Try to bring a personnal computer to enjoy high speed internet connection from your own room (ask transportation company for rates if you don't have a laptop computer). Buying last minute ticket whithin the train is some times cheaper if you travel with an InterCity train (not with the X2000). Stand-by airplane tickets from Stockholm is a good way to travel through Sweden (don't miss upper North of Sweden...for a sample of adventure). Check first on SAS website to have an idea of available seats for the outcoming planes before reaching the airport. Travelling is easy and Scandinavia is wonderfull!

As other should have mentionned, best student place (and student fares) are Herrgar'n, Flamman and Nationaner Hus. Don't miss Munchen Hoben fest in late August, Intervallen in October and Luciafest the 12th of december.

Evrything is provided through the university, if you take care and fill in forms on time you could be sure to have a room on the campus. I were a few disapointed by the corridormate swedish behaviour (they are often not so talkative but really kind!).
