Languages
Language of instruction: English
Was learning English a key decision factor?
No, it wasn't.
How much did you improve your English?
My level before: At ease in most situations
My level after: No problems in any areas (including slang)
Language difficulties
Administrative / Institutional
Personal comments
I enhanced my English almost unbelievably. Being fluent after ten months--even having got my own "Swedish English" accent! Concerning the local language Swedish, unfortunately almost all Swedish students preferred to speak English in the presence of foreign students.

was the same price as at home.
Accessibility of student needs
Second-hand household items
Personal comments
Try to cook most of the time at home, together with friends. It is much more fun and stimulates social interaction.

Housing
Type of housing: House with different so-called "korridors"
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
Maybe more private space.

Personal comments
Positive aspects: well arranged; fast internet access via LAN (included in the rent); close contact to people from all over the world (in my case: ten people from four continents); high degree of independence concerning decisions among students (help of housing desk rarely needed)
Negative aspects: high rent (as is usual in Sweden anyway); sometimes too much people in too few space: scarce privacy
