Housing
Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Share a house with local students
Why?
As an exchange student, it is very easy NOT to get acquainted to locals (only to other exchange students).

It's fun, it's nice, but it is not an authentic live-in-Norway-experience. The campus is a world in itself.

Student life dominates the city

Personal social experience
Personal comments
A winner for outdoor freaks. Beautiful climbing, sailing, skiing, mountain hiking, swimming, you name it. A frustratingly small and boring place for night-life and mall lovers.

The first question people ask after the exam is: How many pages did you write? Apparently, you are supposed to write down everything you know that is vaguely related to the question asked.
The ability of anwering brief and to the point seems to fit more with what is desirable in business life.

Overall
I wish I had known...
That I would not leave and work here instead! I would have brought more stuff right away and taken good time for lots of goodbye hugs.

Everybody loved it, you will too!
Important factors in my choice
(1) Unimportant – (4) Very important
Personal recommendation
NHH should try to merge more profoundly activities and courses (incl. teamwork) for international and local students.

During my experience abroad, I ...
(1) Never – (4) A lot
Became familiar with another culture
Met people from other countries
Experienced a change in life
Advanced my studies & career
Final comments
Do not, I repeat do not get caught in the 'golden triangle', i.e. campus - NHH - supermarket. Some rarely ever manage to get their way out of it.

Languages
Language of instruction: English
Was learning English a key decision factor?
No, it wasn't.
How much did you improve your English?
My level before: No problems in any areas (including slang)
My level after: No problems in any areas (including slang)
Language difficulties
Administrative / Institutional
Personal comments
I stayed on after my study period (to work) and only then started to learn Norwegian. Speaking the language is a great advantage in submerging in the pleasant culture. Although nearly everyone is fluent in English, they tend to speak Norwegian to each other, even if foreign friends are present.
