Personal spending habits
Considering the price level, Singapore proves to be less expensive for a student that is trying to live "just normal". Local food can be very cheap in comparison to my home country, and accomodation on campus was much more less than at home as well. I have saved a lot on those two issues, without missing anything. Overall, the stay here, came me a little less expensive, as the living costs that I have experienced at home so far.

Personal comments
There was no need to look out for second-hand text books. Text books in general seem to be very inexpensive here, in comparison to other countries.

Personal comments
Since English was my first foreign language taken in school I already had a good foundation when I decided to do a school exchange with an American high school for one academic year. Since then, also supported by many vacations into english speaking countries, my level of english reached near-native. Given the fact, that my home university's courses are all taught and instructed in English, I was perfectly equipped for going abroad. As my English is more American style, I had to get adjusted to the Asian prouniciation, but believe did very well in the end of understanding everyone. I certainly did not have any problems of voicing my concerns, or ideas to various topics. Singapore is a melting pot of various cultures, therefore also a hub of different languages spoken. I certainly did not pick up any of those, since without any prior knowledge asian languages always prove to be a hard task.

Overall
I wish I had known...
Now, being here, and almost finished, I wish I would have spend more time in preparation of this exchange for traveling to nearby countries.

Final comments
Do not take too many clothes along!!! As a student, you need not more than swimming trunks, sandals, shorts and t-shirts. Otherwise, bring some alternative clothes over!
Be well-prepared for your stay as well as possible short trips to neighboring countries. Try to have finished the larger part of your studies at your home institution, so that you can take just a few courses that are of interest to you.

Academic
Course recommendations
As I am a student with a major in IT, I would recommend every othe rexchange student with the same background and a little interest in Business issues to take courses that are labeled BC, because they are management courses focusing on IT issues. Very up-to-date!!!

Interaction with local students
Personal comments
Not really! The offerings have been very diversified, so everyone should be in the position to find whatever is of interest. Though, if I could, I will tell responsible persons at NTU to focus more on class interaction and to focus on more presentation skills for the locals.

Chinese New Year at Chinatown.
Best Club in town is most likely the "central".
If you are looking for a nice and calm place to hang out with a girl you are in love with, you should check out Mt. Faber.

Housing
Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
Major reason would be to be closer to the city. Furthermore, you would have the chance of having more room if affordable, and try to move together with someone that I know or who seems to have same habits. Moreover, chances of obtaining a much quiter place would be favorable.

Personal comments
The accomodation is simple, but sufficient and fits into the culture as experienced by myself. As prices are fairly cheap, you can not expect to live in a 5 star hotel. Most of the rooms are double room, i.e. are shared by 2 persons of the same sex. This allows to get to know people that you might have otherwise never gotten to know. I experienced the complete cultural experience I was looking for.
