Why? It eases time and effort to get your own apartment in a foreigner city.
Personal comments:
It was simply great. I was living in my own apartment at Wall Street area, and withing a resident hall, so I had all the advantages of living with other international students.

Battery Park. East Village is my favourite neighborhood, with all the bars and cafes. Museums like MOMA or the Metropolitan are a MUST.

Do not take more than 5 courses per semester, as it would really disminuish your leisure time to enjoy the city. Besides that, learn and have fun.

Spain is a very cheap cpountry, if you go abroad, everything will be more expensive for sure.
Food, Travel, Nightlife, Overall, Telephone, Housing: was more expensive than at home.
Personal comments:
I had to pay $4,000 at once for the accomodation, but it did not cost too much trouble in fact.

I wish I had known...
I wish I had known that the WindChill effect does effectively exist... I was not prepared to interact in a -25ºC environment... Too much cold for somebody coming from the sunny Spain.

One of the top 10 in the US, and one of the most (if not the most) ethnically diverse in the US. Truly and international university.
