The study exchange program at BI in Sandvika was just excellent. The life in Norway is very sporty and natural, so I recommend to be prepared for that - be prepared for all kinds of sports and outdoor events. Norway has wonderful countryside and it is definitelly worth travelling around. Be prepared that you will spend more money then in your home country, but donīt worry about that - they are worth spending. This half a year with all its events and activities was extraordinary experience!!! Read Review

Type of housing: With 5 Norwegian families
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: With more host families
Why? It gave me great opportunity to understand the Norwegian culture, traditions, mentality, I had the chance to live the REAL Norwegian life. I became a "Norwegian" for half a year.
Personal comments:
All families were very nice and kind to me and they offered me the best living standard. I could see and compare all different ways of living, it enabled me to meet the family members, lead the conversation with them and get known Norway from all different points of view.

KEY:
Amazing! Hardly had time to study.
Plenty to do when I had the time.
So-so.
Did not get involved.

Travel
Overall
Describe host city: Students equally interact with the local and student community
Travel: Takes place mostly within the university/student environment
Nightlife: Takes place mostly outside the university/student environment
Activities: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment
Personal comments:
Since Norway has such a wunderful nature and offers many sport opportunities, I would recommend to do all kinds of sports (skiing in winter, cycling, jogging, sailin in summer).Travelling around the Norwegian coast and exploring the fjords and mountains canīt be missed. I trully recommend rafting on Norwegian rivers and summer hiking on the snow fields - very breath taking. Since the nights are so light during the summer, our favourite social activity was BBQ on the island Kalvoya.

Quality of courses
KEY:
Fantastic.
Pretty good.
Could've been a bit better.
Disappointing.
Variety of courses
Availability/access to resources
Interaction with teachers
Interaction with other international students
Interaction with local students
Course recommendations:
I recommend to an exange student to register more courses of all different specialisations than is needed, and then (after 2 weeks) decide which to keep according to the personal and career requirements.

My opinion of the university assessment
Exams at end of course
KEY:
Liked it.
It was alright.
A bit annoying.
Didn't like it.
Exams throughout the course
Essays and/or projects at the end of course.

Personal comments:
I would appreciate to interact more with the Norwegian students in the team work. The teams were created mainly of the exchange students, and so we didnīt have such good chance to work and study with Norwegians. Otherwise I find the Business School of a very high quality.

Language of instruction: English
Local language was: Different than language of instruction.
Was learning English a key decision factor?
No, it wasn't.
Was learning the local language a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my knowledge
How much did you improve your local language?
My level before: Did not speak it
My level after: At ease in most situations
Personal comments:
As all Norwegians speak English very well and my English is fluent, too, I didnīt have any communication problems. Besides that I attended a Norwegian course. Living with families helped me a lot to cope with this language,so that in the end of my study period I was able to speak with Norwegians mostly in their native language.

Personal spending habits:
I wanted to explore Norway and have a social life with the exchange student, so I travelled and went out more than an ordinary student usually does. And it was deffinitely worth doing. Besides that Norway is realtively expensive country.
Travel, Nightlife, Overall: was more expensive than at home.
Food, Telephone, Housing: was less expensive than at home.
Personal comments:
Travelling in Norway is very expensive -I recommend to inform about all travel discounts immediatelly in the beginning. Cycling in spring and summer is the best way of the local transportation.
