Well, food is lot cheaper in England than in Norway, and I did not cook as much as I would do at home with my husband. We had free bus between the student hall and the school, so I also saved quite a bit of money there compared to home. Telephone, Housing: was the same price as at home. Food, Travel, Nightlife, Overall: was less expensive than at home.
Personal comments:
It is a good idea to invest in a computer before coming to Brookes, as the computer facilites are quite cramped. I had to rent a computer on several occasions so I could hand in papers on time! Housing is expensive in Oxford (about the same as in London), so come prepared, especially if you plan on renting a flat on your own. I worked 9 hours every Saturdays in a store. Part-time jobs are easy to find, and foreign students can work up to a certain number of hours a week (15-20?) without paying income taxes. Food/Telephone/Accomodation/Nightlife and life in general are more expensive in England than in France Travel: England is the centre of "cheap" travel at the moment with so many cheap ooportunities (coaches, ryanair, easyjet and other low price companies), it is so cheap that you can resist and as a result I have spent defintely more than at home! Food, Travel, Nightlife, Overall, Telephone, Housing: was more expensive than at home.
Personal comments:
phone: international phone cards (about 5p/minute), definitely cheaper than BT! This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
