I had planned to study Dutch language courses but in the end I didn't. I just studided the language by myself from a book. People speak English well enough in the Netherlands. The English language skills of the professors were sometimes good and sometimes a bit poor.

The university is good. The Dutch Studies courses are in English and they are easy and you get credits of them easily. The professors don't demand very much from the foreign students.

Final comments
Groningen is a nice but not astonishingly beautiful town. The university is ok and the system works smoothly. Go there if you want to get familiar with the Dutch society and the kannabis and if you want to get study credits easily.

I was living in an international student house in Haren. The house was ok but there were two people living in one room, so there was practically no privacy at all. The rent was a bit too high (250e/month) compared to the lack of privacy. Otherwise the house was ok; good facilities, electiricity&gas included to the rent etc.

Sally O'Brien -bar is a nice place in the beginning but eventually you'll probably get tired of it. If you live in Haren, you can take the train for free (no-one is going to check your ticket). Don't buy a bicycle before you're sure that you'll need it a lot.
