Because germany is simple lot more expensive than in Mexico, or even in Texas, US. Food, Travel, Nightlife, Overall, Telephone, Housing: was more expensive than at home.
Personal comments:
Well, payin a mothly ticket for the train is lot cheaper as if you had to pay anytime you use it. Also there exists a Bahncard, which you cna bay for a period of one year and then you get a 50% descaunt, which is good when you have to travel often. Personal comments:
huosing is very cheap in Heidelberg. take a bike to save on public transport. Disappointing are the very expensive train tickets, they do not invite you to travel all around the country. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

At home housing is on campus and many of the expenses (telephone, and food) are included in the general room and board payment, which overall was a bit less then paying separately for everything in Germany. With travel, I do not travel much during the semester, however while I was in Europe I wanted to take advantage of quicker travel (shorter distances and more developed public transportation systems) in order to see as much as I could. Finally, at home I pay with the Dollar, which was (and still is)doing a bit poorly compared to the Euro so my expenses were a bit higher due to that factor. Travel, Nightlife, Overall, Telephone: was more expensive than at home. Housing: was the same price as at home. Food: was less expensive than at home.

I spend more because the cost of life is higher than in Italy and because there're more chances to travel and to go out. The accomodation in Heidelberg is also particularly expensive. Travel, Nightlife, Overall, Housing: was more expensive than at home. Food, Telephone: was the same price as at home.
Personal comments:
If you get there at least a month before the beginnig of the courses, you have more chances to find a good room, not so expensive as the ones you can find in October. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
