Language difficulties
Language of instruction: English
Local language was: Different than language of instruction.
Was learning English a key decision factor?
No, it wasn't. Was learning German a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my German How much did you improve your German?
My level before: Did not speak it My level after: Everyday knowledge (shopping, directions, etc.) Personal comments:
I found it difficult to learn German. Most Germans speak excellent English, and my studies were all in English. I was only able to take one semester of German due to time/money constraints. Schiller graduates must achieve at least an intermediate level in a foreign language, and I had already chosen Spanish due to previous studies. If you make an effort to study and practice, you can learn it. I was too involved with my English-speaking fellow students. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

EXPENSES
The accessibility of student needs
Main source of funding:
Family Other sources of funding:
A private grant Work opportunities:
I didn't explore any work options Personal spending habits:
Europe is more expensive than the small, US town where I come from. Food, Nightlife, Overall, Telephone, Housing: was more expensive than at home. Travel: was the same price as at home.
Personal comments:
No real surprises, except the desire to take a trip every weekend to somewhere nearby. It is very convenient to travel from Heidelberg, and there are endless attractive and accessible opportunities. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
