If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? Because it was a very good experience to live with 3 other exchange students in one house and we had a lot of fun.
Personal comments:
Both, student accommodation and private accommodation have their pros and cons. The first one is more expensive, but you get to know a lot of other students you´re living with. The second option is normally cheaper and it´s "your" house...

In the beginning I had difficulties with the local accent but this was only the first few days. Soon I could understand and speak pretty good.

Because it is more expensive than in Austria. Travel costs were higher because I did a bit of sightseeing.

I did not know that there is quite a lot of course work to do. Most of it was based on writing assignments.
