HOUSING
Personal assessment
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? I like to share an apartment or house with other students, so I get more chances to know different kind of people and even more if I'm living abroad.
Personal comments:
The housing at TU Delft was controlled by one only company. That got to a sort of monopoly, so they were able to take the decisions they wanted without caring about our opinion. I think it was not good for the exchange students, which didn't know that much about the housing possibilities in Delft and surroundings. STUDENT LIFE
Personal social experience
Describe host city: Student life dominates the city
Activities, Nightlife, Travel: Takes place mostly within the university/student environment Personal comments:
Really good bars where to drink beers and have nice talks with friends. Don't miss Locus Publicus in Brabantse Turfmarkt, neither miss Bee Bop, de Ruif or Cafe de Engels (on the Market Square). This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

My academic experiences
Course recommendations:
There I could see how a course can be taught properly. There were no more than 20 students taking a course at the time, so the teachers could attend you on a more personal way. As well, nice specific courses, very well planned and with a very practical point of view. Excelent education.
My opinion of the university assessment
Personal comments:
Since TU Delft is a university opened to international students, I would ease the contact between those international students and the local dutch students. I think that would make the academic much more attractive. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Was learning English a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my English Was learning the local language a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my knowledge How much did you improve your English?
My level before: At ease in most situations My level after: No problems in any areas (including slang) How much did you improve your local language?
My level before: Did not speak it My level after: Everyday knowledge (shopping, directions, etc.) Personal comments:
In the Netherlands I was able to improve my English, all the lessons were taught in that language and I met lots of people which knew very well how to speak it. I think now I'm able to follow any conversation in English. Moreover, I learnt some Dutch during the year. During this year in Barcelona, I'm still learning Dutch and, even if it's still difficult to have conversations, I can understand quite a lot out while reading or listening. EXPENSES
The accessibility of student needs
Main source of funding:
Family Other sources of funding:
An ERASMUS grant Work opportunities:
I didn't explore any work options Personal spending habits:
I noticed almost no difference between the Spanish food prices and the prices of the Dutch. About housing, I usually live in Barcelona which is quite expensive, so I paid almost the same in Delft. Finally, I spent more in Nightlife and travelling because I did much more of this than usually. Travel, Nightlife, Overall: was more expensive than at home. Food, Telephone, Housing: was the same price as at home.

OVERALL
Important to choosing this university...
I wish I had known...
I think it is worth it to take an erasmus exchange when you are at the last year of your grade. So when you finish, you can take the decisions as the possibilities come. For example, if you will to stay there and work you can do it. In my opinion:
Everybody loved it, you will too!
During my experience abroad, I ...
Personal recommendation:
Very good university, excellent education. To recommend to civil engineering students. FINAL COMMENTS
If you are from any mediterranean country, it's advisable to stay for a while in some country of central or North of Europe. So there you can see the differents between our closest neighbours in Europe. Furthermore, the Netherlands is a sort of meeting point, where you can meet international people and you can easily travel around europe on a cheap way.
