Personal spending habits
I spent less on food and overall living expenses during my stay abroad as the cost of living in the host country was generally lower than at home. I spent more on telephone calls as I called family and friends more often being away from home and most of which were international calls. Accomodation whilst reasonably priced cost more abroad, as at home as I lived in the family home not in rented accomodation. I spent less on nightlife and travel as I did not have much social life nor did I travel a lot, only to university, therefore travel expenses were relatively cheap. Overall I spent roughly the same abroad as I did at home. Whilst I saved money in some areas I spent more in others.

Living abroad for the first time is a difficult experience as it brings much change and you need to know how to cope alone with life in a foreign country.

Personal recommendation
The Universidad Autonoma is academically a good university but it´s location could be better as it is a long way out of the city of Barcelona and can prove to be quite isolated.

Final comments
Before studying abroad for the first time it is important to be fully aware of what is involved. Calculate living expenses, make sure you have social contacts in case you are ever in need and plan your stay, ie. places you want to visit etc. in order to make the most of your time abroad.

My favourite social event during my stay in the host country was the cinema. In Sabadell where I lived there were many cinemas. For events or bars it was best to go to Barcelona but I didn´t go to often.

Housing
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Studio apartment not sharing with others.
Why?
Sharing with others can have it´s advantages but for a long period of time it is more convenient to have one´s own space.

Personal comments
It is beneficial that the university arranged accomodation for the students however choice of location was limited as spaces in Barcelona and the university campus were quickly filled.
