Languages
Language of instruction: Spanish
Was learning Spanish a key decision factor?
No, it wasn't.
How much did you improve your Spanish?
My level before: Basic phrases
My level after: No problems in any areas (including slang)
Language difficulties
Administrative / Institutional
Personal comments
It was a great fun to learn the slang. The Spanish were very helpful and when you didn't understand an expression or a word they tried to explain it to you in the best way they could. I did not have any problems at the university neither, so that the exams weren't difficult at all.

Final comments
If you decide to go to Madrid then you'll have a great chance to discover the Spanish culture. Even if you think you won't like it, go to see a "corrida", or at least enjoy the viwe on the Plaza de Toros of las Ventas, a marvellous mudejar style construction, in the light of the sunset.

It's already five years since I've been there and thinghs might have changed, but anyway I reccomend you not to miss the pubs and bars at Avenida de Brasil. Try also the evergreen "Fontana de Oro" at Puerta del Sol. For a sangria night go to "Cuevas de sésamo".

Housing
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
It gives you the chance to be more indipendent and to know not only the campus life, but also the lifestyle of the locals.

Personal comments
The university staff helped me to find an appartment, but for those who prefer an accomodation in a student dormitory it's almost impossible to get a place there.
