I would live in an apt. because you have more freedom. There is no housing offered by universities here. The other option is colegios mayores, which are the typical student residences with students from every universities, but they are often divided by sex and have cafeterias...

For the best sangria in Madrid: Las Cuevas de Sesamo in Plaza Canalejas (a very artsy bar too), discos: Palacio and Joy are the biggest and right in Puerta del Sol.

It's a little bit outside of Madrid, so if you live in the center like I do, it takes time to get to class (45 min-1 hour), but at least the campus has trees!!!!
