HOUSING
by Ana Maria, Academia de Studii Economice din Bucuresti, Bucharest, Romania
Business Studies, Erasmus
Personal assessment
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Independently - I had no other choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? Because of the relationships that I established between students coming from all over the world.Living with people from other countries is the easiest way to obtain relevant insights into other cultures.
Personal comments:
I lived in a private apartment shared with students from other universities from Madrid. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Language difficulties
Language of instruction: Spanish
Was learning Spanish a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my Spanish How much did you improve your Spanish?
My level before: Basic phrases My level after: At ease in most situations Personal comments:
Taken courses in the local language is definetly a good way to learn the language. BUT, practice and grammar is very important which has to be more focused. Implying, that one should force itself to currently speak the local language even though many international students are around. I didn't explore any work options Personal spending habits:
For the telephone category, I am referring to mobile phones and the reason that was more than at home is because the plan was different...and more expensive. Telephone: was more expensive than at home. Food, Travel, Nightlife, Overall, Housing: was the same price as at home.

OVERALL

Important to choosing this university...
I wish I had known...
The climate in Madrid was quite surprising. Summer didn't start before June and until that time it was freezingly cold. But when summer finally started I would have prefered the cold weather... you can't stand that heat!! Should have taken with me more cloth for winter-weather, however. In my opinion:
Everybody loved it, you will too!
During my experience abroad, I ...
Personal recommendation:
University is ok, teachers are quite nice, only disatvantage is that it is in Getafe, but connection by bus is no problem. FINAL COMMENTS
Try out everything, travel a lot, Spain is great!, enjoy the food (and the food prices on the market, especially for fish and seafruits!), enjoy the nightlife and don't get stressed from the crowds of people on the streets.. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
