The great thing about the Universidad de Alcala is that it is a relatively small university with a perfect program for Erasmus students. There are a lot of activities planned for Erasmus students, in particular very interesting trips to Granada, Santiago de Compostela, etc. Although the university is located in a small town, it is very close to Madrid. It is only a 40 minutes train ride. So one can easily take advantage of all the great museum, theaters and also nightlife in Madrid. Read Review

If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? It is a great opportunity to share housing with students of other nationalities.
Personal comments:
It was very well organized. The appartment was ready the day i arrived. I lived with a Dutch and a Spanish roomate, so it was perfect.

The university offered a Spanish course for all international students in the first semester. This, combined with the Spanish lectures at law school, helped me improve my Spanish language knowledge tremendously.

For food, telephone and accommodation. I spent less, just because Spain is on average cheaper than Austria. For travel, I spent much more, because I took every opportunity to get to know the country and visit as many places and traditional festivals, as I could.
Travel: was more expensive than at home.
Nightlife: was the same price as at home.
Food, Overall, Telephone, Housing: was less expensive than at home.
Personal comments:
"Todo por cien"-shops are the best source for cheap household supplies.
