Housing
Type of housing: With a family
Arranged by: Home university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
I've already had the family experience. I would ideally live with young adults who are natives of this country

Personal comments
It was wonderful, especially since family is so integral to Spanish culture. I learned so much I would never has been exposed to without a family of my own.

I wish I had known...
Not to bring so many "emergency" items...you can find almost anything in Spain that you would need...and that which you can't, you can live without.

Personal recommendation
The teachers were wonderful, but the international study building is detatched from the rest of campus so there is very little opportunity to meet local students at school.

Final comments
Open your mind and think outside the box. Don't stick to your fellow travelers just because it's more comfortable. You will miss out on so much if you don't take the time and effort to meet the locals.

I almost never travel at home. We weren't allowed to use our host family's phone, so we had to buy cell phones and pay for minutes used.

It was amazing. I learned more in four months of living with my host family and studying in school than I did in four years of language instruction in my home country. Now I work in a bi-lingual job due completely to the language skills I acquire abroad.
