HOUSING
by Grainne, National College of Ireland, Dublin, Ireland
Humanities, Erasmus
Personal assessment
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Independently - My choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? I would go for the same option again just with different people and with more space. I arrived quite late in Bilbao and there was a good choice of accomodation to choose from
Personal comments:
The apartment I took was the best of the ones I had looked at, however it was very small for the price I was paying. As well as that there was no central heating thus it was freezing during the winter months This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

ACADEMIC
by gershwyn, Johannes Kepler Universität Linz, Linz, Austria
Management Science, Erasmus
My academic experiences
Course recommendations:
try seminars, they are the most interesting subjects, very praxis-oriented and not too hard even 4 erasmus. forget about most beginner and intermediate courses, they are very theoretical and teachers tend to be crap.
My opinion of the university assessment
Personal comments:
enjoy life on- and off-campus. teachers can be enoying because they see erasmus as lazy people. their prejudices lead to bad results even though one works hard. so be prepared! This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Language difficulties
Language of instruction: Spanish
Was learning Spanish a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my Spanish How much did you improve your Spanish?
My level before: At ease in most situations My level after: No problems in any areas (including slang) Personal comments:
there is an excellent interaction beween Erasmus students. Nevetheless It is admitted that a lot of Basque students are somewhat unconsciously defiant towards the foreign invaders we are ! This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

EXPENSES
by Ilarietta, LUISS, Rome, Italy
Development Studies, Erasmus
The accessibility of student needs
Main source of funding:
Family Other sources of funding:
An ERASMUS grant Work opportunities:
I didn't want/need to work Personal spending habits:
At home I don't spend on housing, since I am living with my parents and I spent much more on travels because I never stopped, basically! Food, Travel, Overall, Housing: was more expensive than at home. Nightlife, Telephone: was the same price as at home.
Personal comments:
Had to buy blankets, because there were any. A good saving tip may be to share an apartment with more people: lots of common devices will cost much less. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

FINAL COMMENTS
check out: Guggenheim Bilbao. All the beaches. Pamplona, 7.7 - fiestas and the famous bull-run. get a calender with all the fiestas, in general. get yourself a local girl/boyfriend (if you have a relationship, forget about this point). dont try to understand the spaniards - just accept their way of living. bring your car, but never let anything in it - unless you got a good insurance. have fun! this will be the only time in your life you will have this kind of experience - things will never be the same again....
