I wish I had known...
What really to bring and what to leave behind. I also wish I would have known further in advance how many American students I would be going to school with. Also most importantly I wish I woudl have researched Studying in San Sebastian, Spain beforehand. I fell in love with Sna Sebastian and count the seconds until I can visit, work or live there!!

Living with a host family really forces you to learn the language in a hurry. Removing yourself from the comfort of fellow American students and getting out there and meeting natives was a big help with learnign the language. Becoming friends with the professors was not only helpful but lots of fun getting to know them.

Housing
Type of housing: With a family
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
I lived with a host family the first semester and then had the opportunity to live with two international students the second semester. Both experiences were exceptional, and am thankful to have had them. If I had the chance again I would live with stufdents mainly because you have more freedom, more in common with peers, forced to do more for yourself ie: shopping, cooking, cleaning, etc. All of which are learning/teaching methods when liiving in a foreign country.

I know the host family I stayed with was the best in the city. I really couldnt have asked for more. My onsite director did a great job at pairing up host families with students. As far as living in the apt. second semester, it was quite an experience!! Dealing with the landlord, the severe age and dilapidation of the apt...all were priceless learning experiences.
