Universidad de Santiago de Compostela (USC)

Universidad de Santiago de Compostela, Colexio de San Xerome, Praza do Obradoiro, 15705 Santiago de Compostela, Spain
4.18 / 5 based on 108 reviews.
Description:
The University of Santiago de Compostela commemorated the 500th anniversary of its founding in 1995. This institution, which maintains one of the most important academic traditions in Europe, was established as a "Grammatic Academy " as early as 1495 by Don Lope Gómez de Marzoa.

Nowadays, the University of Santiago is organised into two campuses: one is located in Compostela and the other in Lugo (the two thousand-year-old town named " Lucus Augusta " after Augustus, the Roman emperor).
Both campuses complement each other, aiming to construct a unity despite the different specializations each of them offers.

Language of instruction: Galician
Was learning Galician a key decision factor?
No, it wasn't.
How much did you improve your Galician?
My level before: Did not speak it
My level after: Everyday knowledge (shopping, directions, etc.)
Personal comments:
Although I speak spanish and the galician language is similar, when the people speak too rapidly I got lost in the conversation and that was frustrating to me.
