The University of Valladolid is one of the oldest in Spain, together with the Universities of Valencia, Salamanca and Lérida. During the 13th and 14th centuries these universities formed part of a great intellectual movement which developed in Western Europe. The University of Valladolid was founded at the end of the 13th century. The University district of Valladolid comprises four university districts: Valladolid, Palencia, Soria and Segovia
