HOUSING
Personal assessment
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? I would again live in an apartment for the independence of it, but I would live with Spaniards instead of Americans
Personal comments:
It was a bit of a mess getting settled. The host university wasn't helpful or accomodating. More or less, simply plop students where they will be. I would recommend instead doing it all independently, by using the university's bulletin boards as information on who needs a roommate This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

STUDENT LIFE
Personal social experience
Describe host city: Students equally interact with the local and student community
Nightlife, Travel: Takes place mostly outside the university/student environment Activities: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment Personal comments:
Everything in el parte viejo is a hot spot. Amazing cafes and bars. The whole city of San Sebastian is just raging. So, there's not any particular one that stands out. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Yes, I wanted to improve my Spanish How much did you improve your Spanish?
My level before: At ease in most situations My level after: No problems in any areas (including slang) Personal comments:
Communication wasn't at all a problem in San Sebastian as the instructors and the local people were so helpful and open to students coming in and learning the language. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

EXPENSES
The accessibility of student needs
Main source of funding:
Personal savings Other sources of funding:
None Work opportunities:
It was not legal for me to work Personal spending habits:
The dollar was very strong to the Spanish peseta so I was spending much less than I was at home, especially compared to where I live now (NY) Travel, Telephone, Housing: was the same price as at home. Food, Nightlife, Overall: was less expensive than at home.
Personal comments:
No surprises at all. The cost of living there is quite good when compared to American costs. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

OVERALL
Important to choosing this university...
I wish I had known...
I wish I had moved directly to San Sebastian. Instead I took a 3-day excursion with a group form the consortium, travelling around Spain prior to getting into the life in San Sebastian. It was good to sight-see but just made me feel like abn outsider in Spain as I was in a big touristy group of other Americans. In my opinion:
Everybody loved it, you will too!
During my experience abroad, I ...
Personal recommendation:
I would strongly recommend this program. I was very satisfied. FINAL COMMENTS
I would recommend travelling as much as possible and doing so without a Eurail pass as I found I saved money and frustration by doing it independently. Also, taking along a Let's Go was the best idea! It was a perfect guide as I went around to new cities. Additionally, an intercambio is such a great way to meet people and learn more of the language. The school sets you up with another local student who also wants to practice English. Great little program to get involved in! This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
