Personal comments
Considering the Portuguese language, at first it was very difficult to understand anybody, but by the end of the semester I could understand more or less anything. Speaking was a bit more difficult but you can learn the basic very fast. Almost all of the students (local and international) speak English, so if you know English you'll be ok.

Academic
Course recommendations
Try to check in advance if the course can be held in English, since their web page doesn't provide information about course language for all courses. Professors usually answer to the emails with questions about their courses so fell free to send them one.

Final comments
Try to learn a few portuguese phrases before you go, travel is quite cheap so when you have free time (and you should have a lot of it) explore Portugal, it's a beautiful country.
