Overall
I wish I had known...
Aqua alta. We had a lot of floods! Also it was very cold and six months is the longest time any one of us could manage to stay there...anymore and it starts to get depressing.

In my opinion:
Everybody loved it, you will too!
Important factors in my choice
(1) Unimportant – (4) Very important
Personal recommendation
There are alternative Universities in Venice and one ssould look into what type of education they want. I would only recommend Ca' Foscari for advance Italian speakers or if they are allowed to choose courses in English.

(1) Never – (4) A lot
Became familiar with another culture
Met people from other countries
Experienced a change in life
Advanced my studies & career
Final comments
There are a lot of good youth hostels so don't worry of you have not sorted out your accomodation. There are always rooms available once you get there as students tend to move a lot, so it is easier to find accommodation while you are there.

Academic
Course recommendations
Ca' Foscari is not the most efficient University. You often need to make an appointment with lecturers but they are on campus about once a week. They have a relatively helpful international ofice which you visit for induction and they give you a tutor. It took me two weeks from the start of the term to meet my tutor and get assigned my lectures. But he was helpful in the end and let me take his class.

No, it wasn't.

Personal comments
It was quite difficult at first to communicate with the locals but when we started making friends they were very patient with us and understanding. Life got much easier as they would help us even with academic problems.

Expenses
Main source of funding:
An ERASMUS grant
Other sources of funding:
Family
Personal savings
Work opportunities:
I worked, but it was illegal/cash in hand work
Personal spending habits
Housine in Venice is generally very expensive but we shared a small apartment which cut down our costs.
There is not much of a nightlife in Venice so we always organised parties amongst ourselves and buying fresh one when you bring your bottle is so much cheaper than buying beer or any other drink.
