HOUSING
by Laura, Universidade da Coruņa, A Coruņa, Spain
Chemistry, Erasmus
Personal assessment
Type of housing: student residence
Arranged by: Independently - I had no other choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? Because I would like to have more independence and I would able to cook my own food, an that thing was imposible at the residence.
Personal comments:
The residence is good when you arrive because there are a lot of students like you and you can meet them. The residence is near the university and this is a good thing, but by otherside...is too far from town center. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

STUDENT LIFE

Personal social experience
Describe host city: Students interact with the local community without much university involvement
Activities: Takes place mostly outside the university/student environment Nightlife, Travel: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment Personal comments:
Places close not so late at night. This pissed us a bit so we figured there should be some place that closes later. *Zaragozana. This is the one.The place's a real dump but you really have fun in there. *Picasso.Sure you'll heard of this disco-pub if you get there. One of the best rated of'em all. *Circolo degli artisti. Acceptable. ---------------------------------------- Other than night places,I highly recommend a good view of the city at night. ACADEMIC

My academic experiences
Course recommendations:
Watch it here! This is University's one of the best among the country, which means that they don't care much whether or not you're an exchange student since there's a reputation to stand. Don't choose very tough ones!
My opinion of the university assessment
Personal comments:
The "computing system",if it can go by that,is a dump. There's just one official place where students can check email and make internet research.Only 4 computers of them with a minimum Win95 to be shared with a certain amount of locals working on a Thesis. Then there was, thank god, the library...but still anything related to Pcs was a sheer nightmare. Language difficulties
Language of instruction: Italian
Was learning Italian a key decision factor?
No, it wasn't. How much did you improve your Italian?
My level before: Everyday knowledge (shopping, directions, etc.) My level after: No problems in any areas (including slang) Personal comments:
You need to speak italian, even if you don't know much is the best choice out of a language that you can make. People are helpful in Italy. English don't buy much at the University, though. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

EXPENSES
by Angel Luis, Universidad de Oviedo, Oviedo, Spain
Marketing and Sales Management, Erasmus
The accessibility of student needs
Main source of funding:
An ERASMUS grant Other sources of funding:
Family Work opportunities:
I didn't explore any work options Personal spending habits:
Prices change. Accomodation in Rome is by far the most expensive thing you'll face if you ever show up. Food, Nightlife, Overall, Housing: was more expensive than at home. Travel: was the same price as at home. Telephone: was less expensive than at home.
Personal comments:
Cash dispensers have high fees. Better to withdraw a significant amount at once. Careful with the banks if you want to open an account."Banca di Roma" scammed a bunch of people a lot with a supposedly Student-fee-free sort of account. Important to choosing this university...
I wish I had known...
I wish I had find the Residence open in the first place. In my opinion:
Most people loved it.
During my experience abroad, I ...
Personal recommendation:
Speed up bureaucracy!!!!!! FINAL COMMENTS
Rome's a heck of a place to go. It offers a lot at all levels, human, social, art,..etc. Keep an eye in the means of transport for your personal stuff and bear in mean that the place ain't chep. Worthy though. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
