Università degli Studi di Padova
University of Padova, Via Riviera Tito Livio 6, 35122 Padova, Italy, Padua
3.92 / 5 based on 174 reviews.
Description:
The Università degli Studi di Padova is the second oldest University in Italy and its traditional name is "il Bo", i.e. "the Ox". Our relationships with other academic Institutions and Research Centres the whole world over, from America to China and Australia, are extremely active through exchange of professors, information and publications. The University is in a phase of expansion and is looking at smaller towns nearby as sites for future initiatives (development of a polycentric University). Many of the students come daily to Padova from neighbouring villages and towns.

HOUSING
Personal assessment
Type of housing: With a family
Arranged by: Home university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? I loved my host family, but I would like to have a place that I can call my own.
Personal comments:
My host family was amazing, they were one of the best parts of the experience. They didn't speak any English, so I really got to practice my Italian at home. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Travel: Takes place mostly within the university/student environment Nightlife: Takes place mostly outside the university/student environment Activities: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment Personal comments:
Fish Market is filled with Italian and international students. Spritz is a great way to meet up with friends and new people. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

My academic experiences
Course recommendations:
Our university classes were taught at an independent center apart from the rest of the university, so this isolated us from the larger university.

Language difficulties
Language of instruction: Italian
Was learning Italian a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my Italian How much did you improve your Italian?
My level before: Basic phrases My level after: At ease in most situations Personal comments:
I had only two semesters of instruction before I left for Italy, but by the end I was completely at ease in any situation. Because all of my classes were in Italian, in addition to further instruction in grammar, my Italian flourished. I comminicated constantly with my host family and Italian friends. Personal recommendation:
Try not to take classes at the BU center, take them at the actual university. FINAL COMMENTS
I had an amazing experience because of the beauty of Italy. I had an amazing time traveling and learning the culture. My advice would be to travel around Italy as much as possible and to meet as many Italians as possible. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
