When you are going to study abroad make sure you see the room/appartment before making a down payment. I wish I did this before going to Siena. The problem is that you never know what you will find when youy are there. In my opinion:

You will love the Toscana: Florence, Il Chianti etc. From Siena it is one hour to the sea Sicily is great and it costs only about 100.000 L. by train; Three hours to Rome (!) by bus; six hours to Naples. That Arezzo is actually quite small and does not have the same student life as the main part of Siena University in Siena. In my opinion:

I personally would have prefered a larger University with more going on. If you quite like a quiet life and are there to study lots rather than meet people and speak the language, then it is probably a good place to go. FINAL COMMENTS
Try and live with local students, and when you go to lectures do not sit with other English students, but start speaking to the locals around you, as you really have to be confident and approach them to make friends. Once you do so, your stay there will be so much more fun! Arezzo is a great place to travel from, as its well situated in the middle of Tuscany. Definitely worth going to is Cinque Terra (although stay in La Spezia, as it is much cheaper)and Cortona (great views). This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

I reccomend it very highly. Siena is small, and the university thrives. It's the perfect place to study and meet people from all over. Every day/night is a new adventure! Word to the wise: the Sienese are a fiercely proud and belligerent people. Watch yourself and be respectful where the situaiton requires it. FINAL COMMENTS
If you're ever stressed (the town can make you feel "closed in" from time to time), take a couple days and go by yourself o Assisi. Perfect place to get away! This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Yes, I wish I had known that they don't sell Doritos over there! Also, I wish I had pre-arranged a fan, because neither the dorm rooms, nor the classrooms had air-conditioning or fans. Some days the heat was unbearable. In my opinion:

Don't worry about money...just bring one or two ATM cards....I really only brought about $40.00 US, and exchanged for Lire at the post office (best rate). Siena is brilliantly located so it is very easy to travel around Italy form there. Although it is an extremely accomodating city it is also quite small so if you're a person that gets bored easily choose to go to a bigger City with more activity. It did get a bit dull throughout the winter but the summer was brilliant. I've yet to see a more breathtaking Piazza and could just spend hours there sitting in it. If you take a car, remember petrol is expensive. Parking in Siena is really difficult also. Try to get out of Siena and visit allover Tuscany. And the rest of Italy...especially Sicily, which is like another country! This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
