Personal comments
Good language courses at the Università per Stranieri, especially for ERASMUS students. Moreover possibility to have a "Tandem" partner. There is also an advantage if you live with Italians in a flat.

You will love the Toscana: Florence, Il Chianti etc. From Siena it is one hour to the sea Sicily is great and it costs only about 100.000 L. by train; Three hours to Rome (!) by bus; six hours to Naples. By the way: Excellent bus services.
