try to think of the courses to choose before you leave your place, and also try to get early in touch with the teachers..tell them you're part of a foreign exchange program..so that they'll help you to get familiar with the way the exams go

nothing to add, maybe that written exams should have more importance than they did by the time I was there.

I do a joint degree in Classics and the quality of ancient history courses was outstanding. so indepth and fasinating especially 'I relgioni del mondo classico'

More intergration with Italian students. It was hard going doing such an advanced course on your own.

Worthy, espetially for extra-communitarian students (like me), to learn more about Europe and policies of European Union.

We had a lot of different subjects. In my opinion, sometimes is better less subjects, but more detailed then a lot of broad exams.

Very flexible, but you have to find out their visiting hours if you want to talk with the lecturer, as sometimes, they are only yhere once a week

Computers were scarce, and access to them required me to take an IT course!!!!

I have not gone to class in the whole year, of course it could be better to meet italian students but if you really want to live your erasmus life will be better for you to go out at night and sleep in the morning...

The level doesn't seem to change regardless of whether it's a 1st year or a third year course (or an 8th year??). The lecturers treat you like a piece of dung if they ever notice you at all and there seemed to be a great deal of animosity towards English speakers (especially non-American ones who don't pay huge amounts of money for support). Don't rely on the teaching staff to help you in any way and it is nigh on impossible to find anyone who can assist you with any academic questions you may have...in my opinion give up on trying to learn anything (you won't- maybe the meaning of the word bureaucracy) and have some serious fun!!!

It would be nice if they could actually take the trouble to assign you to a supervisor who might actually know something about your course area or the differences between courses and assessment methods in your native country. Oral exams are normal in Italy and most British students are used to a written culture, some assistance would have been good to help us with the transition.

the courses at the university are very bad...low low level BUT there are joint courses with the American University John Hopkins that has an international departement in Bologna. The courses are free for erasmus studenst and very good...but it is just for political sciences students

yes , library should not closed at 5pm and be closed the whoel weekends!! also, 10 computers for a faculty it is not a lot?!

Course recommendations:
I studied at MIREES, Institute for Central Eastern and Balkan Europe, and they had plenty of high profile courses in English. As an Erasmus you also got all flexibility you needed.

Personal comments:
Access to libraries and the internet was a problem, as was the communication with the administrative staff - Italians can be very lazy when it comes to replying emails, even important ones.

a good idea is to try out a few courses before you decide on the ones to follow

it will take a revolution to better the relations between professors and the italian students, but as an international student I found it easy to get in touch with the professors, I made sure to make myself noticed by the start of courses so the professors knew that I was an exchange student
