Languages
Language of instruction: Italian
Was learning Italian a key decision factor?
No, it wasn't.
How much did you improve your Italian?
My level before: Basic phrases
My level after: No problems in any areas (including slang)
Language difficulties
Administrative / Institutional
Personal comments
Italians are really helpful when you try to learn their language, they are polite, kind and nice about correcting you and they appreciate any effort done. Do not mingle only with foreigners or you will miss an incredible opportunity to learn.

Personal comments
Try to find whether the university still provides special housing for foreigners. It is so cheap you will scream of happiness. The "mensa" is the cheapest way to eat, very, very, very close to eating at home.

Important factors in my choice
(1) Unimportant – (4) Very important
Personal recommendation
Not really strong, professors think of their university highly but they do not provide evidence for this apart from making it difficult.

Final comments
Italy is an incredible place to visit, culturally and historically. Italians are also very, very nice. However teachers and burocracy can drive you nuts and there is not much you can do about it.
