HOUSING
Personal assessment
Type of housing: With a family
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: With a family
Why? There is just so much to learn, live and experience by living in a host family. Also, my family has always opened our doors to international students and every single student, from China, Switzerland, Japan or Azerbijan provided us with a new, exciting perspective on the world- not to mention friendship!
Personal comments:
During my stay in Italy, my host family taught me more about culture and language than any classroom setting could. I learned about the husband and wife dynamic, given insight to Italian traditions and superstitions and of course, enjoyed a multitude of authentic, home-made Italian dishes! STUDENT LIFE
Personal social experience
Describe host city: Student life dominates the city
Nightlife: Takes place mostly outside the university/student environment Activities, Travel: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment Personal comments:
I ADORE this town! I can name for you a waiter, barista, bartender and dj at many of the restaurants, cafes and discotechas in town! I even worked at a pizzeria and performed at a bar! Just a quick list- Pizza Mediterranea, Cafe Morlacchi, Dal Mi Cocco, Ferrari Pizzeria, Merlins, Celebrate, Cafe di Perugia, Cafe Concerto,Bar Centrale, Contrappunto. My academic experiences
Course recommendations:
To students taking courses I would remind that how we learn and how we are accustomed to being taught- it's ALL CULTURAL! So if you are having trouble learning or you feel as if the Italian professor that is teaching you is teaching you badly, remember that that is most likely the reason. Inform him/her so he/she can make adaptions to help you better learn.
My opinion of the university assessment
Personal comments:
I would prefer to continue to have contact with international students after the initial first month. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Language difficulties
Language of instruction: Italian
Was learning Italian a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my Italian How much did you improve your Italian?
My level before: Basic phrases My level after: At ease in most situations Personal comments:
I learn, speak and understand Italian more than I ever expected to in the time period I was given. But it was not EASY! It was a choice inside and outside of class, to actively work on it, at every second. It was a decision to put myself on the line, to speak -right or wrong, and learn as I went along. I learned just as much if not more outside the classroom- at bars, at restaurants, and with friends. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
