Universität Augsburg review by Szandra
HOUSING
Personal assessment
Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: On campus
Why? It was a lovely room, situated only 5 minutes away from the main campus. Easy access to downtown area, etc.
Personal comments:
Accommodation at the university was excellent. It wasn't expensive at all. The room was clean. There was always someone on duty if help was needed. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

My academic experiences
Course recommendations:
The business professors are very nice and friendly. Most of them are ready to explain things in English or French if needed. Some departments have guest professors from different parts of the world.
My opinion of the university assessment
Personal comments:
Everyone should make the most of their time in Augsburg. It is a wonderful place for personal and academic learning. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Language difficulties
Language of instruction: German
Was learning German a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my German How much did you improve your German?
My level before: Basic phrases My level after: At ease in most situations Personal comments:
It wasn't difficult to communicate with the locals. Most people were very patient and friendly. I often had to explain myself 2-3 times, but people didn't mind the waiting. It was a great learning environment. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

EXPENSES
The accessibility of student needs
Main source of funding:
A private grant Other sources of funding:
DAAD Work opportunities:
Personal spending habits:
I don't travel very much in Canada; however in Germany, I travelled every weekend. This ended costing me more than I thought it would. It was all worth it! Fruits and vegetables were most expensive than at home, but, then again, they tasted better and were always fresh! :) Telephone, Housing: was more expensive than at home. Overall: was the same price as at home. Food, Travel, Nightlife: was less expensive than at home.
Personal comments:
None at all. Expect to spend about 1000DM per month....now, I don't know how the prices have changed since the Euro. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

OVERALL
Important to choosing this university...
I wish I had known...
I went there somewhat blindly...and alone as well. This was the best way to learn new things and get acquainted with new people. In my opinion:
Everybody loved it, you will too!
During my experience abroad, I ...
Personal recommendation:
If you have the chance, go to Augsburg. It is well situated in Bavaria. You have access to the Alps, Austria, Suisse and many other Central European countries...the roads are open for you to explore! FINAL COMMENTS
Buy yourself a good tourbook before you leave and a few rolls of film + camera. Make the most of it! Eat at the local bakeries and experience German clubs (the music is much better than in North America!!). This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
