Personal comments
I was so busy committing to my studies I did not have the chance to enroll in German courses. I know I wouldn't have acquire much in three months, though, so I was satisfied with getting used to hearing the language and the local dialect about me. It will certainly help me absorb the language easier if I decide to seriously take up the language some day.

Overall
I wish I had known...
Not really. The ups and downs were there to help me grow, so I prefer to look at surprises as quite beneficial.

Housing
Type of housing: A student home by the university
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
Basel is a small, university town where people from all over come to study or complete internships. At the student house you get to meet this people whom you get to share your culture with and whose differences you get to learn from. It's just a wonderful melting pot where people, like you, come and go, kind of like a condensed globe.

Personal comments
From my student home, it took 2 minutes to walk to the university's English seminar, and 5-10 minutes to the French one. My room was spacious and clean, and I share the kitchen and washrooms with the other 17 or so people on my floor. In the basement were an entertainment room, a television room, rooms for musical practice and two laundry rooms with coin-operated machines. There are also study areas and large sitting areas on the ground floor. It's a great place that's accessible to the Rhine, the grocery stores and popular streets for hanging out.
