I wish I had known...
Not really! Now I realize how great was my year at Fribourg, but it's true that when I first arrived I felt that the town was too quiet. You have to learn how to love Fribourg step by step.. it ends in a very deep feeling!

Switzerland is a small country so you can plan week-end trips and know very well all the territory. Paris is only at 5 hours with the TGV, Northern Italy is 4 hours... everything is close! In Wintertime you can not missed any of the sky resorts, or lakes .. nature is wild and close!

I would have prefer to know that Fribourg was full of spanish students, because my first idea was to choose a place with majority of foreign students.

I only recommend to learn some French or German before going to the Université de Fribourg; but with the other students the communication language was often English.

Fribourg it's a great place to travel, because the train station it's very important, and also the situation of the town; you're near to Bern, Lausanne...but it's also easy go to Basel, Zürich, Luzern, Genève...even France or German.

Fribourg is a small but lovely town with quite many students but is can be very quite on weekends and holidays. The University is quite small but everything is easily accesible. The student dormitory is just accross the street.

The train system is great in Switzerland so you can get wherever you want very fast and comfortable and if you get a halfprice ticket even not very expensive. Mountains are great for hiking and lots of beautiful lakes.

I wish I had known...
In retrospect, I probably should have lived with a bunch of Swiss students instead of other international students.

Get the most out of it. They offer great international law courses. The 'language improvement' and travel opportunities are limitless.

Great destination. Academically speaking not a walk in the park. You have to do the work, no priviliges for international students. Having both German and French as language of instruction is a challenge.

I very much enjoy studying at the University of Fribourg. I did my Bachelor's degree there at the English department and now I am doing my Master's degree. Fribourg is a great place to study. The city is very interesting and there are some sports which are absolutely lovely. The thing I love the most about the University is that it is some kind of melting pot. People from all over Switzerland are studying there. You can hear all of the four national languages plus many other languages spoken by international students in just one day.
