Why? On campus there is a great opportunity to get to know other students and exchange students.
Personal comments:
The campus where I was living, was the cheapest one and there were mainly exchange students and other foreigners. I know there would have been nicer places to live, but on the other hand it was propably the best place to get to become acquainted with so many other students.

If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? Because in Siegen, apartments are very cheap and in the middle of the city. The student's house was pretty far away from everything and the public transports are not very good
Personal comments:
For me it was a truly international and cheap experience. Siegen is not as expensive as Munich or Frankfurt and is full of international students
