Always is good to ask the students from the last semester if they could keep the things for you in the host country and not to through it away (for instance SIM card, bet clothing, pillow and blanket, dishes, bicycle...)

Actually I have got every needed information before leaving through my home and host university and trough many friends who did exchange in Germany, Cologne before... I was lucky one! :o)
