I tried to be with French natives so that I use the language, I avoided the groups of only foreign students and I approached the French society within the University. They are very warm and welcoming as long as you are nice and friendly to them too.

I wish I had known...
I WOULD NOT STAY IN THE FIRST DORMITORY GIVEN TO ME BY THE UNIVESRITY. IT WAS VERY COLD, LONEY AND IN A BAD AREA. I WAS KUCKY AND SOON MOVED WITH A FAMILY.

Final comments
STAYING WITH THE FAMILY IS THE BEST THING TO DO IN THE BEGINNING WHEN EVERYTHING IS NWE, THEY CAN REALLY HELP YOU AND ONE IS FAR MORE SAFE. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TO LOOK FOR AN APPARTMENT IN AN UNKNOWN REGION IN THE CITY WITHOUT CHECKING FIRST IF THE AREA IS SAFE, HAS A GOOD REPUTATION. HANG AROUND WHERE THERE ARE A LOT OF STUDENTS AND TRY TO MAKE FRIENDS FROM FRENCH GROUPS.THE KEY TO THIS IS TO BE OPEN, NICE, FRIENDLY AMD FUN.

DO NOT GO OVER YOUR LIMIT IF HAVING A BANK ACCOUNT WITHOUT MAKING SURE THAT THE BANK WILL NOT CHARGE YOU EACH TIME YOU TAKE MONEY OVERDRAFT. IT CAN BE VERY COSTLY, MAKE SURE THEY SECURE A LIMIT FOR YOU AND THEY LET YOU KNOW WHEN YOU HAVE NO MONEY IN THE SAVINGS ACCOUNT.
