The main reason is the next one: if you are living in a new place, you try to know everything. Besides the cost of life in France is more expensive than in Spain. Travel, Nightlife, Overall, Housing: was more expensive than at home. Food, Telephone: was the same price as at home.
Personal comments:

living in general is cheaper. appartments in grenoble aren't cheap but you get back half of the money as student! and of cours I traveled a lot. Travel, Nightlife: was more expensive than at home. Telephone: was the same price as at home. Food, Overall, Housing: was less expensive than at home.
