You can receive funding for housing in France. It is called the CAF, make use of it since it makes the expenses a lot less. If you make use of the Thalys book in advance, you will get a large discount. For housing, start as soon as you can, there is a city campus, www.ciup.fr. Sign in there.

The university doesn't help you with finding housing. But if you start early you will find some. Further it is very good, you have sport facilities, restaurants etc.

Duplex is a known club, pretty good. A lot of clubs have on thursdays student night, so you can enter for free instead of paying 15/20 euros. The Bastille is a good place to go for a drink. If you like clubs you can go to duplex, mix, la scene. These are known with most exchange students.
