A night spot--Alien cafe not far away from the campus and from the tram station(which is great when you don't have a car), not expensive--cause targeted at students. Cafes are everywhere, but i like the one at the corner of the street facing the Cathedral. Just love this cathedral!!! Btw, that's really one of the places in Orleans not to be missed.

Housing
Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Independently - I had no other choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
Living on campus is great, it gives you more chances of getting to know other people. But after 6 years of living on campus of different schools, I feel that i need more privacy and, let's put it this way, I'm already a bit too mature for a dorm.

A student has a good choice of dorms on campus as well as off campus. I was given a so-called studia, it's like an appartment with a kitchen and a bathroom. It is pretty expensive, but here in France they have CAF--it's a social aid for housing. It covers almost half of your housing expenses. Almost any university student can get it.

Food in France is just goooood. I love french cheese! Telephone and housing just cost more. Traveling, well if you had a residence permit and could travel in the whole EU without any problems-what would you have done?;)

Eating out is expensive. So if you want to save more, try to cook more at home and to eat out on weekends.

Academic
Course recommendations
Here in France be prepared to work a lot on your own, especially if you're doing DESS or DEA (graduate degrees). A lot of attention is given to written tasks and the majority of exams are in a written form. If you want to be good at it, i'd recommend you to read a book on "méthodologies" to write essays and dissertations-it's very important.

A more bablanced schedule. Sometimes we have only 4 classes per week, sometimes 2 classes almost every day. You don't know what exactly your schedule will be like next week and can't plan your outside activities.

Languages
Language of instruction: French
Was learning French a key decision factor?
No, it wasn't.
How much did you improve your French?
My level before: At ease in most situations
My level after: No problems in any areas (including slang)
Language difficulties
Administrative / Institutional
Personal comments
it is really a great experience as i am taking classes with french and am expected to know as much as they do. Frankly, it's much better than an Erasmus program where there are foreigners just like you in a class. I doubt a lot about "high progress" in your language profficiency in this situation.
