I did a lot of research so I wasn't to suprised. Check train times before booking your plane ticket!!!! I had to camp out in a train station for awhile because I didn't check train times.

Personal recommendation:
I liked it a lot. Try to go during the year when the locals actually go to school. The school is only used for international students during the summer. I would have learned a lot more during the school year.



FINAL COMMENTS

Take extra money. My plane ticket was about $1250, Tution and Room about $1000, not bad! Expect to spend more than you think on food. Eat the crapes downtown, they were amazing!

Personal recommendation:
I was a bit disappointed by the choice of courses in Lettres Modernes - it wasn't bigger than at Munich university. Also disappointing: teaching style. Not much interaction except in the classes by native English/ American speakers



FINAL COMMENTS

Enjoy the sports activities at they've got a lot to do and all for free (even paragliding!) Go to the CAF as early as possible. But the people at university are VERY helpful, it's very well organised.

My personal recommandation is to choose this University expecially if you are interested in a study experience with a close contact with professors and local students.



FINAL COMMENTS

Thanks to the geographic position and to the good transport connexions you could reach easily Paris and Lyon. My advice is also to discover the historic or naturalistic places in the region of Burgundy.

manageable size of city, pleasant climate and reputable university

The local students were very standoffish but the other foreign students (Germans, Italians...) were great - make friends with them.

be more active,eventhough your status is different, if you show your interest, teachers are willing to help you

bring your car, public transport is incredibly expensive and you always find foreign students to share the expenses on petrol when travelling

The weather really sucks...very cold and rainy during the spring semester. I would have packed a lot less so I wouldnt have had to deal with the hassle of transporting everything from teh airport

I liked the University but the international students who are just studying the language are very isolated from the other french students.



FINAL COMMENTS

Look for cheap travel deals....especially for ones to and around England and Ireland. i think...www.buzzaway.fr has really good flight deals to london. Participate in the sports on campus (suaps) you can go iceskating, skiing, etc for really cheap and meet french students.

That there are limited possibilities to become a tutpr at the 'Centre des Langues' and thus get unlimited internet access. I was lucky to get it a lot of the student weren't!

get information befor you go there about academics; don't worry to much about housing; get there early i.e. at least a week before school starts

It was a very good experience for everybody but we were all very happy to go back home, too. It is hard to live in a foreign country but you should have tried it at least once. You will grow from this experience!

Expand your horizons, speak your native tongue as little as possible. Be adventurous, you'll meet people and make friends. Learn as much as possible when in a different culture. IT will most definitely benefit you!

I highly recommend L'Université de Bourgogne. This was the best program I have to done to date.

Pack light with only the basics. It does rain and it a can be chillier than in regions of the US during the summer.

Travel on the weekends to nearby cities to really get to know the counrty of France.

If the Phillippe is still a student/worker (and this is likely to be the case for the next 35-40 years) I would highly recommend this program.

Rather cold, formal and unfriendly. Difficult to make friends with local students.

It is hard to travel via train from Dijon. Many destinations required backtracking through Paris which added expenses.

During the summer Dijon is VERY slow. Also on SUnday's nothing is open, so one must prepare for food and activites.

throughout the whole bourgogne you con visit wonderfull castle and during wintertime the suaps (the sport university) organizes very cheap skitours which are phantastic
