Food is generally less expensive at the university cafeterias, and groceries seemed to be less too. I used télécartes at 50F per card to make international and local calls in France. Taking the train is certainly less expensive than gas prices and domestic airfare in the US. I never experienced a cover charge at a bar or club for that matter in France. Mixed-drinks were perhaps a little on the high side but a good beer in Dijon was only 2.75 USD. Overall, it was cheaper for me to be in France for the summer than it would have been to stay home. Personal comments:
I found that to commute between Dijon and Lyon on the weekends, it was much cheaper to buy the tickets in France than to use a RailPass. Reserve the RailPass for long journeys, otherwise the normal train is much cheaper. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Difference in cultures; Food, phone(long distance mostly) and accomodation were all a little more than in the United States. Food, Overall, Telephone, Housing: was more expensive than at home. Nightlife: was the same price as at home. Travel: was less expensive than at home.
