I spent more on telephone access because I had to buy phone cards every week when at home I use my cell phone, housing was paid in my program fee as was food.

Telephone: for family reasons I wanted to call home quite often, Nightlife: it is very expensive here to go out to the nightclubs.

I think i twas just me, but I spent more than I was supposed to.. oops.

Because things, in general are more expensive in France. Also, the possibilites for the nightlife are good.

There is a government sceme CAF which will aid students with there rent. Try to get in contact with people who are studying there who may be able to leave there furniture, appliances etc. If not there are plenty of second hand furniture stores normally situated outside of the town. Also many foreign students are given the opportunity to become language assistants to earn some extra cash.
