HOUSING
Personal assessment
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Home university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? I really enjoyed living in an apartment while studying abroad as opposed to living on campus or with a family. I enjoyed the independence and was more immersed in the city and the culture than I would have been had I lived in campus housing.
Personal comments:
I was satisfied with the housing arrangements organized by my home university. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

STUDENT LIFE
Personal social experience
Describe host city: Students interact with the local community without much university involvement
Nightlife: Takes place mostly outside the university/student environment Activities, Travel: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment Personal comments:
There are lots of great restaurants to choose from, especially in Vieux Nice. There's a little town called Villefranche not far from Nice that has sand beaches and is not to be missed. Also, the proximity to Italy makes it very easy to take day or weekend trips there. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

ACADEMIC
My academic experiences
Course recommendations:
My opinion of the university assessment
Personal comments:
As a student, one has to be fairly self-motivated during the semester because grades are almost completely based on final exams. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Language difficulties
Language of instruction: French
Was learning French a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my French How much did you improve your French?
My level before: Everyday knowledge (shopping, directions, etc.) My level after: At ease in most situations Personal comments:
Speaking the language was a bit difficult when I first arrived, especially in informal social situations. But I made a lot of progress throughout the year and my abilities to both understand and speak the language have greatly improved. EXPENSES
The accessibility of student needs
Main source of funding:
Family Other sources of funding:
Personal savings Work opportunities:
I didn't explore any work options Personal spending habits:
I spent more money overall while studying abroad because I used the opportunity to travel, and also because Nice is an expensive city. Also, the exchange rate between the euro and the dollar make it even more difficult to be frugal. Food, Travel, Nightlife, Overall, Telephone: was more expensive than at home. Housing: was the same price as at home.

OVERALL
Important to choosing this university...
I wish I had known...
It's important to keep an open mind and to try to appreciate rather than judge cultures that are different than your own. In my opinion:
Most people loved it.
During my experience abroad, I ...
Personal recommendation:
The University of Nice is not organized in the same way that American universities are. It can take some time and effort to resolve problems and work out administrative issues. It requires a lot of patience, but other than that, I enjoyed my experience in and out of class. FINAL COMMENTS
Be prepared to spend a decent amount of money if you plan to travel. Relatively cheap flights and hostels are available, depending on where you plan to go, but you can't rely on them for every trip. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
