If you're there to improve/learn the language then you really have to push yourself as its really easy to stick with your friends from home (if you went out there with people from home uni) and speak English all the time. Make an effort to meet Italians and to speak Italian to them. Read Review

Location
Cleanliness
Space
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Independently - My choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? More independence, although I may consider living with a family or with other local people in order to improve my Italian.
Personal comments:
I chose to find my own accomodation, which wasn't particularly easy, but it turned out good in the end.

Try and make friends with local students, as they often study together. Let the professors know who you are.

Yes, I wanted to improve my Italian
How much did you improve your Italian?
My level before: Everyday knowledge (shopping, directions, etc.)

Personal comments:
It definitley improved over time, but I really would recommend that you make the most out of every opportunity you have to speak the language, push yourself, make yourself speak, or else you'll regret when the year ends.
