KEY:
Couldn't have asked for more.
Pretty good.
Could've been better, but didn't lessen the overall experience.
Disappointing.

Type of housing: RESIDENCE
Arranged by: Home university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? i HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO LIVE IN AN APARTMENT OFF CAMPUS AND IT WAS THE BEST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE. I HAD 24-HOUR EXPOSURE TO THE LANGUAGE AND I ALSO HAD THE FREEDOM TO INVITE GUESTS TO HAVE SOCIAL GATHERINGS UPON MY OWN CONSENT.
Personal comments:
THERE ARE MANY PLACES OF ACCOMMODATION. I PERSONALLY PREFER AN APARTMENT AS OPPOSED TO THE RESIDENCE, BUT FOR A NEWCOMER TO SPAIN IT IS A VERY GOOD OPPORTUNITY TO MEET OTHER FOREIGNERS WHOM ARE ALSO INTERESTED IN STUDYING SPANISH.

Variety of courses

Course recommendations:
Most courses are taught in Catalan, however, one is able to ask the teacher to speak in Castellano since all professors are bilingual in both Spanish and Catalan.

KEY:
No problems.
I coped pretty well.
Sometimes it was difficult.
It was a constant struggle.
Educational
Administrative / Institutional
Overall
Language of instruction: Spanish
Was learning Spanish a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my Spanish
How much did you improve your Spanish?
My level before: Everyday knowledge (shopping, directions, etc.)
My level after: No problems in any areas (including slang)
Personal comments:
Learning languages is a wonderful experience and it truly is the ultimate test of your will. There were times I did not wish to speak Spanish, but for myslef I kept going forward. At times living in another country is difficult. I had my bad days and my good days, but overall you learn invaluable things about yourself and the people that surround you.

Computers / Internet
Administrative
Money from home
Main source of funding:
Personal savings
Other sources of funding:
Family
An ERASMUS grant
Work opportunities:
I didn't explore any work options
Personal spending habits:
Because at home I used to live with my parents, so I don't spend nothing for food, telephone and housing. There I travelled more, but the nightlife in Spain is cheaper than in my country.
Food, Travel, Overall, Telephone, Housing: was more expensive than at home.
Nightlife: was less expensive than at home.
Personal comments:
The house are not expensive,I payed only 150 euros every month. And you can find less. You can pay only 3 euros for a litre of beer, at Llar del Pernil. And 1 euro for a glass of beer.

I recommend going to URV because it is a wonderful experience, you have Barcelona on your doorstep, and the Golden Coast is one of the most beautiful views in all of Spain.

FINAL COMMENTS

Set up separate accounts for hosuing, one for leisure spending, and another for emergencies. I found at times I failed to have sufficient funds to pay for my apartment and needed to save money at times.
