I wish I had known...
Nothing because I knew before that Spaniards are very sociable but that noone should expect them to invite you home immediately or establish the first contact. Furthermore,it is advisable to go home for Christmas.

There are innoumerous bars (mixture of pub and discos) in downtown which is calles barrio in Alicante. The are bars for every taste and you do not have to pay entry. They are all next to each other so you just go there, listen from outside or just enter and chose. At about 4 in the morning all people move to the harbour (5minutes walk) where the party goes on in about 20 other discos.

Housing
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Independently - My choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
In Alicante, flats are relatively cheap. The best thing is to share a flat with other students.

Personal comments
The university rents room for students and helps them find accomodation in general. The rooms from the university are not recommendable as the university is 5 km away from the city and the beach. The best thing is to try to find a flat alone and if not contact the university.
