Why? the shared apartments are the only - ONLY good option in alicante. and what is more - better live in ALICANTE, not in San Vicente - Alicante atleast looks like a city : )))
Personal comments:
the university dormitories are too expensive compared to the shared flats. there are two options where to live - San Vicente, which is right next to the university but is a village and Alicante - which is down on the sea. Not good not bad. i'd say it's a good place to be for like 3-4 months not more.

Why? All students live an apartment in Alicante. The rent is very cheep and you can share the apartment with other students. In this way you have the opportunity to improve your language skill and it's very easy to find a room!
Personal comments:
The university can help you to search for a house but sometimes it's better do it by yourself. In this way you can see different accomodations and then choose the one that you preffer.

Why? I loved living with a family. They had a 4 year old daughter that I would talk to. They were wonderful people and they were the main source of my practice in Spanish.
Personal comments:
My accommodations were very humble. Tile floors, concrete block walls, apartment setting, but my host mom was a neat--freak, so everything was clean. It was definitely different than my house here in the States, but it was fine.

Why? Living in an apartment provides a high degree of independence.
Personal comments:
The International Students Office at the Universitat d'Alacant has a very efficient housing department. I was given the address of the apartment with great timing and I was fully satisfied with the quality of it. Besides, sharing it with other international students was the best way to improve languages and integrate.

Why? At first I lived with a host family, then I moved out to a flat. It saved a lot of money and I got to meet other Spanish students and live with them. Re
Personal comments:
The housing that the university provides is okay. My host family was great; however, the price was a little too much. The only problem is they take forever to get anything done, which is normal for Spain.

Why? The experience was beneficial - it taught me what to look for, how to look for it and to be open minded about flat shares and choices. Also moved in with other students so had instant friends network!
Personal comments:
I chose to find my accomodation from britain, as I thought this was the most economical option - the other being to go over to spain, stay in a hostal and find somewhere like that - however I didnt know the degree of availablity of student accomodation - which was plentiful - had i known this i would have travelled first and looked when I arrived. By doing it online i was unable to meet the landlord, judge the state of the property or compare it fairly - as a result I paid too much and was not totally satisfied. However the location was fantastic and alot can be said for the accessibility to the city itself and the proximity to public transport

Why? Living with a family is the best way to fully experience the Spanish culture and be immersed in the language.
Personal comments:
I lived in an apartment with a Spanish family and ate all my meals with them. They helped me with my spanish and made me feel very comfortable conversing in a different language. I am very thankful for this opportunity because I was able to learn more about Spanish history, traditions, and lifestyle while improving my Spanish.

Why? It's a choice of independence. I liked I could decide what to do in every moment and because with my house mates we developed a beautiful relationship, we're still in touch although they live in spain and Portugal.
Personal comments:
I could chose their help, and I can say that Alicante has a great reception for international students, but I made it by myself so I can't say mora than I've done.

Why? I would never have had as amazing of an experience abroad without my host family. Through them I not only learned the local culture and language, but made friends, and really felt like I had a home away from home.
Personal comments:
All of the in-house accomodations are hand picked by Armando. This is the best way to really get a feel for the culture and language, and really taught me a lot.

Why? In Alicante, flats are relatively cheap. The best thing is to share a flat with other students.
Personal comments:
The university rents room for students and helps them find accomodation in general. The rooms from the university are not recommendable as the university is 5 km away from the city and the beach. The best thing is to try to find a flat alone and if not contact the university.

Why? Great advantage to be living with Spanish students. Landlord very friendly and approachable, very cheap rent.
Personal comments:
For students that prefer to be up around University / a quieter area of living choose St. Vicente. Those who require more of a party life and dont mind travelling to Uni each day, find one of the many flats available to rent in Alicante itself.

Personal comments:
I was very lucky to have such a nice apartment with great people so I have no complaints. However, i do know people who maybe were not so lucky.

Personal comments:
Tha flat was excellent, just a bit cold during the winter since we did not have any central heating. The landlord and the neigbours treated us very well and we could ask them for anything.

I shared a flat with two other people near the sea, with two swimming pools and a tennis space, for only 200€!!! It was perfect! But a bit far away from my university.

If you choose to let the university to find your accomodation, you will be very disappointed at your arrival because most of their flats are dirty and bad located.
